3D-hybrid structures for thermoplastic structure and function elements

Purpose of this project is the development of embroidered 3-d increased structures of hybrid yarns. These hybrid yarns will be developed of melt fibres and glass, aramid, carbon and natural fibres. A special challenge is the integration of 3D-embroided increased structures in feeder casting elements. A technology chain from the technical embroidery to the element production will be developed.

Potential possible applications of the 3 D-hybrid structures:

  • Domes and fins
  • Hinges and snap fits

Due to the local enhancement structures the withdrawal resistance of the domes will be enormously increased, additionally the life time in the case of hinges and snap fits.
